Well yesterday i was "side ended" in a parking lot by an expedition. The guy that hit me doesnt want to involve his insurance company. (typical) But, the accident only put 2 scrapes in my chrome bumper and its bent up slightly.

My question - If I buy a new chrome bumper, will the dealership have to drill holes for the sensors? Or can i buy a bumper with holes already in it?

I dont know how much to bill the guy. I saw just the chrome bumper part for $300 but it didnt have holes.

Thanks.

You can drill the holes yourself.

But I would go look for an actual bumper with holes -- even if you have to buy it from the dealer. Its not like you're paying for it anyway ;)

I didn't think any second gens came with them. I thought they were all aftermarket.

mine has them OEM, painted bumper rusting around all the damn holes, not to mention the original owner backed into something and squished the lr corner

Gen2 with the sensors. I'm sure they produce one with the holes predrilled. If you drill them youself you run the risk of the chrome finish prematurly corroding.

Thanks for the replies.

I will look for one with holes. Although now I am starting to think i will just leave it like it is, but still bill him. When it comes time to sell the explorer then i will replace it.

careful b/c he might want to see the bumper replaced or fixed before giving you the money
how bad is it?
me personally i would fix it and then color match the whole bumper
post some pics of how bad it is

who cares if he wants to see it. he hit you, he owes you, your doing him a favor by not reporting it to insurance....so pay up sucka. its none of his business weather you get a new bumper or stick it in the bank. same deal with insurance companys, granted they always quote you less than they would pay a shop. i would just go to the dealer, give em your vin#, get a printed quote for the new bumper for the guy and have him write you a check.

i dont think i can adjust the bumpers levelness but maybe it can be done?

maybe w/ a come-a-long..but not sure.
Personally i would do what i suggested before..filling the scrapes w/ body filler and color matching the bumper

BTW is that a vette in the garage?

what is color matching? it sounds like something i would do to a painted bumper. forgive my ignorance.

yeah. my stepdads corvette. i've only driven it twice.:thumbdwn:
