Hi everyone

Mr. Lube said I should replace my rear diff oil. I have 80k on it. they showed me a sample of it. Looked like used oil to me. Dont really know wat its supposed to look like.I drive normal and dont tow.
They want 110$. I'd rather do it myself and save. "wata think"

At 80k miles, if there's any doubt, change it.

You're certainly not going to hurt anything by changing it, i'd just do it yourself.
Don't forget the friction modifier if you have a limited slip.

change it.

And if you do it yourself, put a rare earth magnet down at the lowest point in the case.
Then when you do your next change, please post pic of magnet right after your lower jaw comes back up.
If you select them to do it, I would ask them to place it in or at least you could place it on the outer diff housing. It's plenty strong to keep the iron contaminates stuck to the inside opposite the mag.
I have them on oil pan, steel tranny pan, side of oil filter even one on my shoulder.
