I am planing a SOA and changing the pinion angle. I have read that a mid '90 Range has the cardan in the rear drive shaft but every Ranger and Explorer in the two local JYs have a 2 U-Joint set up in the rear...

They want $80 for a used drive shaft and I can buy a new cardan like my front for ~$50. Worried about that because the U-joint sizes are different in the front vs. rear...

What have you guys used for a donar truck to get a double Cardan in your rear Drive Line?

Has no one done this? Is there something wrong with this idea? Is this thing on?...

Only the 108" wheelbase 4WD Ranger (reg cab shortbox) has the double-cardan rear shaft.

You might also try for a front driveshaft from various vehicles. Many, if not most front shafts are double-cardan.

I have done it, taken a double cardan from a Ranger for my Sport. It will be too short for a 4 door, and was about 7" longer than a stock 2 door drive shaft, I had a driveline shop shorten it 5" to make up for the SOA and to stretch my wheelbase 1".

I didn't check, but it was mid 90s. Also 96-97 (I think that's the right year range) Ex Sports came with double cardans but are even shorter of course.

'90-'97 Rangers (108" WB).

you cant just add one from the front to the rear without swapping the whole drive shaft,i heard the both use the same ujoints

New info?

Did anyone ever try this? I was going to install one like the front on the rear of mine to remedy a fierce vibration

Slip yoke

how is that going to work with the slip yoke ?
It works with the front and it has a slip yoke as well. I must be missing something.
