Anybody try to fit the rear rotors off a 2003 and up up on a 97? I know the diameter of the new ones are 11.85 and the older ones are 11.22, so thats only a .63 increase . divided in half its about 5/16" is there enough room between the caliper and rotor to run them?

You mean rotors off an IRS rear end that use a different hub and caliper setup than our solid axle rears axles? You won't get any benefit from using them, even if they did work, unless you were to either A: increase the contact patch between the pad and rotor, or B: offset the caliper away from the center of the rotor further to accommodate the increased diameter, and therefore apply a greater braking torque due to the fact your are further from the center. Just putting a larger diameter rotor on it doesn't change either of those two variables, and a change that small is not worth the effort to make it fit if it doesn't.

Thanks just found a really good buy on a set of them, right now i have the rear brakes all apart and couldn't really get a measurement. I thought maybe if only difference was the diameter it might clear the caliper mount. I was also looking into using Lincoln calipers as read somewhere they fit like form a 93. I think the crown vics and all those built on that platform use explorer caliper mounts. But use like two left or two right sides. one caliper goes in front of the wheel one goes behind, so bleeders face up. still doing research but most i find say I think it fits :0

Ok, well, like I said, I don't know if they work, I just said there wouldn't be any benefit to using them.. Though, obviously you have found a cost benefit, so if they work, good luck to you and let us know!
