Well, went to see CoryL again this weekend and had him make me a rear bumper with a tire carrier. Everything went well. Took us about 9 hours to make this bad boy. We were both going in blind, only thing we knew is what we wanted it to turn out like. So, the hard part was finding the correct angles for bends, some lengths and some cuts. Cory is an excellent machinest and takes great pride in his work. I am very pleased with the turn out of our project his welding is awesome and he makes it look very professoinal. If i need something else made then i will not hesitate to drive 3 hours to see him again. Below is the link to the pictures, i didn't feel like posting a bunch of them, so i'll let you look at them. Any questions feel free to ask me, if you want to see a picture of a close up of something or what ever just give me a shout and i'll take it for you. I'm going out of town on Tuesday and won't be back till Saturday. Cory might have some different pictures then I do, and he can answer you questions also, probably better then me! Eventually i'm going to get a Jerry can holder and a Highlift mount, but for now, i love it. I think Cory was as excited as i was when we got the tire put on for the first time. Thanks again Cory.

Very nice work Josh and Cory! That thing look sturdy as hell! Are you planning or painting it or herculining it or anything?

Looks sweet! I want one.. Then maybe I could have a full size spare:)

I'm going to paint it black. I can't right now cause it is pouring the rain right now, but yeah, when i get back next weekend i am going to paint it really good and make it look even better. Cory has a picture of me with sitting on the swing out with the tire on, so it's pretty darn sturdy. We've made it so that it would hold a 33 or probably bigger if i can make it squeeze on there. Thanks for the compliments.

Happy trails!!

that tire looks HUGE! nice looking bumper! great job guys

That does look huge, and it's only a 31, i think a 33 would be a monster!

Happy trails!!

That is an awesome bumper!! It reminded me of the bumper that 4 wheeler just put on their project F150... tell him to spread the word if he knows anyone that can do that good of work that is on this side of the US! I don't need a carrier fabbed, but that bumper w/ integrated reciever hitch is sharp looking. Good luck with it.

Josh,

How do you like the top area of the bumper. It seems like there is a bit of a open / void area between the inside of the bumper and the rear of the body. Is this something that you would want to diamond-plate so there is a bit of a platform?

I am getting ready to order one of these bad boys. Congrats!!

Fischer

Fischer--If you'll notice in one of those picuters, after i ran the wires for the license plate light, i used some rubber molding and rivited it to the piece of plastic that is already there. I like, i'd like to have alittle platform there but i can just step on the bumper, so i'm not really worried about it, but my dog didn't want to jump out of the truck the other day, he normally likes to step on the bumper, but he'll get use to it!

Happy trails!!

looking good josh!

JoshC,

I am in the works of working with Cory to get a kit purchased for the bumper, goodies and possibly a slider kit.

I take it Cory made and took note of measurements and angles? I know if I ordered it 'built' from Cory all would be good. I am having a friend weld it to save a bit on labor and shipping. I just hope it looks as high quality as yours.

I can't wait to get this thing. I am having the swingout put on the drivers side and possibly getting the welder to make a harness so I can feasibly rate the bumper as class 3.

Thanks, I just like to be ultra sure of a purchase. I guess I need reinforcement. LOL

I think it's just the picture that is making that tire look so big, the angle it was taken from.

Spray painting it sounds good because you will be able to touch it up anytime it needs it, I made the mistake of using Duplicolor spray on bed liner on my Duff front and rear bumpers, it just chips off like crazy, so now I have to take them off, get them sand blasted, and then start over with the spray paint. I was gonna do powder coat but then if it gets messed up I'd have to PC again! so spray paint works for me....

Nice looking bumper....I need sliders for my BII, Cory? Got some?

Looks great on there Josh...excellent job Cory. Are you going to put prices and stuff up on your web page? I'd love to get one but need to wait awhile on getting some cash...

I definatly second that, CoryL made the rock sliders for my B2 and they are awsome...

...anything custom made for my X or B2 will be coming from CRLCustoms hopefully!

Josh,
I just ordered the bumper combo, I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas. I am all giddy.

I was wondering if you have a body lift, as I am thinking of getting one and am not sure how it will look with the bumper.

I mean the Shackles hang low as it is, then raise the bumper another 3" and I am not sure if it would be funny looking or not.

Sorry i haven't gotten back guys, i've been out of town since tuesday. Yeah i know what you are saying about the wait Fischer, Cory and I couldn't wait to get it done. I do not have a BL, so i have no idea how it will look. The shackles do hang down, but no biggy.

As for painting, i'm going to primer it tonight to keep some of the surface rust away, it's starting to get some on it from sitting all week outside, but that's expected.

I still love it. Everyone that was on the trip with me at work loved it too, they thought it was awesome and very well done.

Happy trails!!
