Now there was probably a lot said about this subject but I just want to hear opinions about different carriers. I'll need a carrier for my 33" tire. This was suppose to be my winter project but for now since my garage was out of order for a month I couldn't do anything about it.

Just want to hear your comments and where and how much.... that's all.

Thanks,

Andre....search in the group sales....there is this company they were talkin about: Dead Link Removed
Pete

When I got some money that I want to spend on the Explorer again, this is the one I will get. www.rockstomper.com He has some great stuff on there, and will build it directly for my vehicle too! It will also add in those two areas that get smacked once in a while behind the wheel well protection. Like Ricks mine are chopped off, however I did it first :D but it was his idea.

Tomken

OK, found Tomken and looks like the winner to me. One thing though, I've got a safari roof rack, , , , , , , , , ,
maybe I should just get a spare tire mounting system for the rack??? Jerry can would go there too. The only adventage of mounting in the back would be center of gravity and accesibillity..........

any ideas?

Thanks,

Wow the yellow one on the Montero looks really cool! $400+ isnt that bad. An I wont wont have to get under the truck to get the spare next time.

Yep, and I am told he does great work too! I will most definatly use him for mine if he is still around when I can do it.

Does rockstomper make skids for X's?

Yeah, that sure looks good. Are you sure he makes one for Explorer? :)

Dunno if he does explorers but I think he could if he had some blueprints or schematic or whatever. Maybe just your whole truck to fab on. If anything im saving the pic for reference.

He has said he will work on anything as long as you have an idea as to what your looking for. I will probably get one just like that montero just because that would fit mine pretty good. I know right now he is working on a Supercab Ranger with a chopped top, 39.5 boggers, and a huge 7L engine of some sort.

2001ExpSport: I have no idea, email him and ask. Tell him what your looking for. Thats the only way you will find out.

the yellow one is awsome. if they can do it for the montero they can do it for the explorer. how much was the one on the montero? SEAL

Those are Sweet!

Has anything ever come of this?

I am looking at getting a Tomken and modifying it, but hell if this guy makes a bumper/carrier I would love one like those. Even a greaseable hinge!

after my run around with Kennesaw I'd go for this baby in a heartbeat.....

$400.00 is not bad...

anything? should we get in touch with him now and see if we can get another group purchase going?

This guy is just north of Denver. I am going to try and contact him and then go up there this weekend to see what he thinks of making a bumper/carrier (hi-lift, jerrycan) combo.

I was also thinking of the Tomkin with the cooler/jerry-can attachment.

I have a full size spare in the mail and need somewhere to put it...

I am calling them now but busy and then no answer. I will definately keep this one posted on updates...

Well I called Rock Stompers and they are cool...although they are booked until OCTOBER! Totally willing to fab custom stuff though. They are only a 2 guy shop so they hae their work cut out for them...Very nice to speak with.

He suggested these other guys.

Avalanche of Denver (knew some of these guys while I livedn in Durango [where it started] had no idea they were here now)

Sidewinder

Wicked Works

I will try them and tell you all what I find...

Called Avalanche. Able and willing. Not cheap!

If your handy make your own :D , did you try any custom welding/fabrication shops in your town. if you draw it up they will make it. I bought the Kenn Mnt bumper and I am modifying it to fit my needs.

Yea I am thinking that for over a grand I could have my own welder, pipe bender, steel to bend and a keg-a-rator and a keg of Heinekin to get me through the learning curve. LOL

Then I could make them for friends and such.

For the price I think that I'll just get the Tomken and mount that then down the road modify that in conjunction with a stout bumper. I want the cooler thing too. I need a money tree.

I had heard (from what I read) that KenMtn thing was a debacle. How much for the rear bumper and a tire mnt?

The majority of the people weren't completely satisfied. But myself and a few others were. It isn't the prettiest thing (yet, I am modifying it) but I feel like I got what I paid for and what I expected.
