Rear Tire Carrier.

Well that is all that matters, right?
I may just have some mechanics and welders from a company my friend works for fab one up for me. The one on his Ranger is very impressive. They fabticate and install plows and service bodies for CDOT (Colorado Dept. of Trans.)

It is just taking the time off, design, and then payment in cash and beer. :chug:

I think I will just order the Tomkin one then worry about the trick stuff later.

I can't seem to locate any of the older pic's of the Tomken tire carrier. You all know of any?

Why not have Cory build you guys a rear bumper with a swing out tire carrier?

I thought Perry had a great way of doing it as well, he stuck a swing out carreir hinge right through the factory bumper/cover, looks and works great!

Has anybody ever tried mounting a BII tire carrier to an Explorer? I bet it wouldnt take much and if you re-enforce the tailgate mount theyare pretty stout.

You prbably could, but I think most people want to stay away from body work. You would have to make sure it is done right. even a 33" tire weighs in at 80lbs.

on a totally un-related topic I saw one of my Jeep buddies yesterday and he had a 34.5" x 9.50 Super Swamper TSL on his spare carrier, Ihad no idea they made a 9.5 that big...I know BFG makes a 33x9.5 that s probably what I will use to keep the weight down on my stock carrier.

I dont see why you couldnt just buy a aftermarket (Cherokee, Toyota 4 runner) rear bumper with swingout carrier and modify the mounts for the Explorer.

that's just because these mounts on Cherokee and Explorer are completely different things. You could work something out though.... it's always possible. I was even thinking about addopting a front ARB bumper from a Ladn Rover to my Explorer..... needs some mods but not really a lot.... and it follows the curves of the body real well.... rear one is something else.... I'd love something like the one on that Montero Sport.......

My Kennesaw came in with some problems but what can I do? send it back? I fixed it all so far except for the tire carrier....... it's still off the truck waiting for the modification..... (it hits the rear wiper - someone told me to get rid of the wiper all together since spare will block the view anyway...)
LOL

:)

Modify the wiper arm, or if it's the tire itself thats hitting the wiper space the tire out a little, dont get rid of your wiper!!!!

Now where in the world are you guys seeing this Montero? I didnt find it on their website.....

As I will need this in the next month with limited time off and $$.. And I have a tendency to make extremely involved decesions...;)

There has been discussions on the BII carrier but I don't want to mar the body. = Too rich for my blood

Cory is out of town and I don't have a trip for Kentucky planned anytime soon as he says he needs a ginuea pig, really that is what would be the best. = infeasable

I would like to see a picture of Perry's, I shall try again...

Here is the link to the Montero bumper

Which BTW when I talked to RockStomper today said that was totally custom and thus...=out of my price range...

that bumper on a white "X" is the Kennesaw Mountain Accesories model....

....looks good.

as far as my wiper problem? I can't modify the wiper since the carrier itself is about 1" short of a lock when it hits the wiper. I have to shorten the carrier . . . , re-weld it......and change bolt pattern on carrier itself since it's 1" to wide!
