rear wiper not touching

The rear wiper on my 98 explorer is not touching the glass until the very end of its travels, i have a feeling this has something to do with where it returns to in a stored position being a little higher than the glass. Are there any common issues that owners have with this?

The spring wears and doesn't apply the same amount of pressure as it ages. Replace the arm and you'll be good to go.

I replaced the arm and have no streaks or misses. It was cheap too.

I had same issue and simply grabbed the steel arm (not the wiper blade itself) with both hands and gently bend it in towards the glass. Took a little experimenting, but after a few tries was able to get it in contact throughout its entire arc of movement.
