Rearview Camera Recall 21C09

I received my letter about the recall 12C09 Rearview camera.
After my first dealer contact today, they called me back and left a message to contact them and to say no parts were required. I returned the call at 2:15 pm and had an appointment for 3 pm. Updated the software as per recall 21C09 and I was out of there just before 4 o'clock. I turned down the free car wash as it is supposed to rain all weekend. The service manager said I could drop in anytime for the wash.

We just had the recall reprogram fix done and a few days after, it's still doing it. Blue screen intermittently when going into reverse :(

Camera needs to be replaced now.

I'm curious if the "fix" caused issues for those who never had the blue screen issue to begin with.

Hi Rick. They checked for this recall and found nothing outstanding but then it wasn't on the list of vehicles affected. Software was up to date. Reall 21C09A

I had the rear camera recall done about 3 weeks ago, it was suppose to be a reprogramming. The rear emergency braking warning the the blue screen for the camera show up more now then ever before.
It probably is going to require replacement of the rear camera. By my VIN # the vehicle was not part of the camera replacement recall.

Here is what I am getting now that the recall was done:

I had the recall service for the camera software update done on January 14. I had not had the blue screen for 2 months. Today it happened for the first time since a month before the recall work. Now the dealer said they will order a camera and replace it. Let's see if that takes care of it!

Mine does have the camera recall as well where it turns to solid blue screen

My 2020 goes back to the Ford dealer on Monday for hopefully a rear camera replacement. I continue to get the blue screen.

I took mine in for the recall service and I don't know if they did anything as there was nothing noted on the invoice. In any case the blue screens for rear camera got more frequent and recently i got a few instances where all cameras went to blue screen. Probably unrelated, but today my navigation system reported a GPS icon with a red circle-slash around it; "No GPS". However the system was working and the notice went away on next startup. No direct knowledge, but I think they have some sort of interface problem with the on board hardware.

If you took it in for the recall then any work they did should be noted on the invoice so that they can get reimbursed for the warranty work. If there is nothing noted, then in my book, they didn't do anything at all. You will likely need a new camera. Take it back again.

The 2020 Platinum went in the dealer today with a printed proof sheet showing a number of photos of the Sync screen main display, showing the blue screen and reverse brake warning failure multiple times during the last 2 months. Dealer was appreciative of the documentation and replaced the rear view camera. All is well now.

I went last week for the recall on my 2020 Limited. It's done it 3 times already since. I'll go back and see what they say.

They will have to replace the camera.

I still have an open recall on this. It's never given us a blue screen, so why chance it?

My screen has never turned blue either and I also have an open recall and it will stay open not taking it in to let them screw it up only to start getting blue screen

I never had any issues either but the dealer insisted on completing the recall since mine is a lease. It was done last June and no issues.
