I just bought a 2010 explorer limited. I'm having issues strapping my sons front facing car seat in the second row because of the headrests. The top of the car seat pushes against the head rest preventing it from sitting properly against the seat. There is no push button and I can't find the clips to release it.

Anybody know how to remove them (with pics) or can provide a link? Much appreciated.

Had the same issue with my daughters booster seat. The way to remove it is to insert a paper clip into the pinhole opening at the plastic base of the headrest and then pull that side up about a half an inch more while pushing in with the paper clip; then switch to the other side and insert paperclip into pinhole at the base and pull the headrest up on that side. The headrest should now pull completely out if it didn't come out when you pulled up on the 2nd side. The 1st side that you pulled up may want to fall back down locking itself back into place so you may have to repeat the process more than once to get it out. You may have to push with considerable force to get the release button to push in with the paperclip.

I used a paperclip before I read your reply, but didn't seem to release it. It was a pretty thin paperclip though so I just might not of been able to push hard enough. I'll try again in a bit.

You can not remove 2nd row headrests. You guys are talking about the first row - right ?

Sorry to say, but the 2nd row headrests do come out. They are not adjustable but they do come completely out/off.

Nah, the 2nd row headrests do come out, but if you have a 3rd row they do not come out/off. The 2nd row headrests are not adjustable, but they do come completely off.

*Sorry for double post, page refreshed on me before I could post the previous message and didn't realize the system posted it for me*

OK guys, I stand corrected. I thought they just fold with the seat. Not the first time I spread rumors :)
