remove throttle cable from throttle body

before I pry on the plastic end and and break it is there a "proper procedure" ?

I've had the throttle body off of my 5.0 2000 Mountaineer. I don't recall exactly how the cable comes off, but once you remove the one screw that holds the plastic cover over the cables, it was easy to see how to remove it. As I recall there is no "prying" involved. If it wasn't 16 degrees outside with 30 MPH wind gusts I'd go and remove my cover and look.

If it's the kind with the metal end, you just open the throttle by hand and pull the cable until the cable lines up with the slot.

Oddly enough I don't have any screw on mine. The cruise control cable came off no problem the throttle cable is still on there. Here's a link to what mine looks like as I just removed the throttle body and move it off to the side. They are large photos so I didn't embed them.

If I recall, you have to pull the end forward just a little and then pop it off the stud.
