Removing Engine Cooling Fan

In case your original question wasn't answered, you need a fan clutch tool kit that contains a 1-7/16" wrench for the nut on the fan clutch. It also contains a large wrench that surrounds all four bolts on the water pump pulley so you can hold it still. You can rent the tool kit from some auto parts stores.

I put an efan on my Ex and I can honestly say it's worth it. I only spent about $30 bucks on a controller and some extra stuff because my dad had the fan laying around. I will say that I picked up a minimum of 2 mpg in city and about 1-2 on the highway. Those who say it's not going to make any gain are nuts. Whether the clutch fan is slipping or not, the motor still has to turn the fan;)

You think I should do it to my 95? Its just gonna be an around town DD, and on occasion maybe once a week or so a longer highway trip to my dads.....

(But lets wait for mr. know-it-all to chirp in and disagree with everything you just said lmao)

BrianDye- It's really up to you. I did if from a performance standpoint because I go to the the dragstrip everynow and then and wanted to pick up a little better power/milage. There is also the reliability part. So far it's worked great, but you never know when something could go wrong. I have a used fan and cheap controller. If either ever gives out, I will upgrade to a new unit and higher quality controller. But until then, it's working great for now!

Thanks estell that answers the question

Also, when you take the fan off, the nut will have to turn counter-clockwise;) It shouldn't take much to break it loose. Good luck and looking forward to your results.

i want to do it, and probably will, as I want a few cheap performance mods including the electric fan, new muffler and tailpipe, CAI or something better...etc etc lol

What im confused on is how to get them, some say they had to fab up theyre own shroud and this and that, some say theres direct bolt on replacements, and I dont get the controllers and stuff

Have you looked around for any? I had looked for a kit and found none so the next option was I was going to measure the radiator surface and then find a fan that will fit within those limits that would pull at least 2500 cfm. Preferably use the factory fan shroud. Most likely I will need to build brackets but shouldn't be anything to extreme and then find a controller for the mess. That’s were I am right now still looking for one of them
