Hello guys,
Background story:
Truck has 175,000 miles, I've owned it for 4 years, and it had 110,000 miles when I got it. The truck has been very reliable, and I have not had to turn a single bolt on the engine (up until now) other than oil changes. Two weeks ago I began getting misfires on cylinders 5 & 6, as well as Random/multiple cylinder misfires. There is a lot of crud around the plug boots, which suggests that the valve cover gaskets are leaking. There is a very small amount of oil in the spark plug wells, and the springs inside the spark plug boots are saturated in oil.
What I need help with now:
So I am following the shop manual (off of the Ford Technical Service Publications CD) for removing the right hand side valve cover, and I am running into a problem. I have everything removed that the manual says to remove, and all the valve cover bolts are removed. I cannot slide the back of the valve cover over the back of the camshaft to pull it out. The A/C lines are in my way. I have tried turning the valve cover by rolling it to the right or left.
Anyone know any tricks to getting this thing out of there? I am not planning on removing any A/C lines, and the manual doesn't say I need to.
Anyone out there have the Haynes manual? What does it say to do?
Thanks.
