Hey all,
I did a search but can't really answer my question. I'm trying to take out the stock stereo from my 96X. I have the removal tool and I stick them in and pull but the stereo will not come out. I just keep pulling the tool out. Do you have to remove the bezel to get the stereo out, or is something else going on?

Just took off the bezel and it came right out. Piece of cake.

yea the bezel is way easy to get off

i tried removing the bezel and it was a real P.I.T.A. how did you all get it off?

stick the removal tools in and then push them out and then pull the stereo out...dont jsut stick them in and pull.

so in other words it is not neccesary to remove he black piece surrounding the radio and climate controls?

Not neccessary, but in some cases it's easier.. especially if the stock piece has been in there for 10 years or so, a little provocation from the rear of the stock HU helps to get it out.

on my 96 i didnt need to take off the benzel
