Removing/Stoping rust

I love my explorer to death, but the only thing that irritates me about it is the rust. I have a large patch on the bottom of the rear doors, both equal but the drivers side has made its way through the paint as in now an eye sore. I also have a large patch on the passenger rear quarter right on the edge of the wheel well. Is there anything i can do to stop the rust from continuing and anything i can do to paint over it? I saw something at auto zone that apparently when sprayed on turned rust into a primer or something... Anyone ever heard/tried this?

Yours sounds too far gone, common up North, but try Eastwood's catalog. Start with the Rust Dissolver, not any top coating or any of those rust conversion products. The rust is in the body seams, unless you stop that then it will pop back out very very soon.

The conversion products cover over rust in seams, the rust will continue to grow in seams. Only a thin water like product has any chance of penetrating body seam rust. Good luck,
