I’d disconnect the exhaust from the headers, as the motor will move without the support of the gear box, it’s going to be a tight and cramped working space, as there are bolts close to the fire wall To remove,

Hi, I'm new to the forum.

I thought of sharing my methods and results of replacing timing chains and guides without removing the engine or even using special tools,
Keep in mind his is meant to be helpful to anyone that may be interested in seeing how it could be done.
One would need very good mechanical skills to accomplish such a job.

This is a (UNLISTED) video that explains how it's done:
Note, I emphasize unlisted because I don't want this video to go to the general public.
I want it to only stay in this forum for those who search for it.

I will post a few other videos as the work progresses.

Regards
Bob

Hi . Thanks for contribution. I have a question. How do you unscrew and torture at the end rear camshaft bolt? I have 2 doors sport and there is no space literally.

Hey Mr Bob! First off I love the patent pending homemade cam holder! I do have the 4x4 and can't see the back guide at all at least from the front of engine, there is just one little piece broken on the front guide and when I drop the lower oil pan I just found 8-10 small pieces of guide in bottom pan. Assuming the back guide is only broken at the top would I have to drop upper oil pan to check for other pieces because I also am limited on space to pull motor. And will someone please tell me we're to get my parts? I'm not buying Ford parts but don't want the cheapest parts either so Cloys from summit racing ok or we're to get kit from? I do have the 4x4 and it's going to be a little more work with transfer case but I have a stronger back than I have money so going to check out second video now. Thanks y'all. B

I have the 03' 4x4 and have decided to pull

Hi. Try rock auto. I got chains and guides and tensioners from ford . Didn’t replaced valve lifters and regretting that because one clicking after I put everything together. Good luck.
