I have a 2007 Explorer, V6, 4x4. Throwing a boat load of electrical codes.

My person investigating my transmission issues says the "top isn't talking to the bottom." He says there is no power to the transmission, there isn't continuity from top to bottom. He also says it will be 3 weeks before he can dig into it, so I'm going to start tracing wires to see if I can find the break.

My first question, is anyone have a known trouble spot I should check first?

Second question, should I replace the harness, rather than trying to find a break and repair it? Is it a pain to replace the harness? When I traced wires before taking it to the shop, I couldn't fit my hand behind the engine to trace it completely, so I assume that spot will be a pain either way. If the break is behind the engine, I likely won't be able to repair it, without removing it.

Anyone know how to find the exact harness for my vehicle? When I Google search, I find multiple different options.

What's the transmission doing when you're driving? I've got a 2007 Explorer, v6, 4x4. I had a rebuild trans at 140,000 (no reverse), and at about 160,000 I noticed the transmission was acting up again. Codes said the solenoid was the problem. Replaced that, and it's been running great ever since...190,000.

Mine is currently in limp mode, I have a bunch of electrical codes. I was told I didn't have power at the transmission. I tried tracing wires, only to test that myself, a d find I do have power. So I think when I was testing, I might have cleaned some corrosion off. I put it back together, cleared the codes, and it worked for a short drive, then when I shut it off, the codes came back.

I bet some of those electrical codes show solenoid issues. For what it's worth, I'd say go to a transmission specialist. You may need a new solenoid control unit. The part itself will cost maybe $300+/-.

Most general mechanics don't have experience in transmissions. Go to a transmission specialist. I did, and at 194K miles today, my transmission is working better than I recall it ever did. Good luck!

I ordered both the harness and solenoid pack from Amazon today. Hopefully there isn't a quality issue at play from purchasing from there.
