replacing hatch?

How hard would it be to replace the back door(hatch) of my 94 explorer? it seems like it would be pretty simple, i just bought it and it has like two fair sized dents in it, im thinking about going to pick-n-pull(junkyard) and getting a new hatch and having it painted the color of my truck and putting it on, just curious what problems i might run into.

No problems at all. Unplug the wiring harness, and unbolt the two hinges along with the shocks and its out. I have done it once or twice.

cool, how much would you estimate the paint job?

I asked the paint shop who is painting our restore peterbilt and he said he'd do mine for $300... which he thought was a deal. So I'd say $300-$500 and up. I'm going to just do mine myself for about $80 in paint.

why is paint so damn expensive lol, i should just get a maaco job on my hatch :(

Macco is cheap for a reason.
It is all a matter of ecconomics.

As to why it is so expensive, two reasons. #1 Paint materials is very costly.
#2 We gotta put food on the table some how !!!
