About a week ago, a piece of wood fell off a truck and struck the antenna on our 2002 Explorer XLS. The antenna was broken from down into the base, and we lost the antenna mast on the highway. So we've replaced the antenna assembly with an OEM part but are confused by the base. From the pictures below, the end is male and not screw-in.
On ebay we purchased an antenna mast supposedly compatible but it is also male. When I found another female mast online, it looks to have threading that won't fit the base. We can't compare the antenna to the original part, so I'm hoping someone could shed some light on how the OEM antenna fits. Thanks in advance for any help.
