Kelly Blue Book (kbb.com) is now showing resale and trade-in values for 2020 Explorers. I ran the numbers for a loaded ST (MSRP of $60k), here's what I found out...

I ran the numbers for a loaded ST (without rear entertainment) with only 10 miles, in "very good" condition. I did not use "excellent" condition, since all dealers will say that no vehicle is in excellent condition.

Trade-in is showing only $43,950. If I had to guess, the dealer would probably offer you $43k. A $17k hit off of MSRP. Ouch!

Private party resale is showing around $48,750, which is a lot better than $43k, obviously, but still a pretty good hit. You should keep these numbers in mind if you're looking to purchase a new Explorer.

I usually like to be a little lower than private party resale, so that I know if I had to sell tomorrow, I'd get a good chunk of my money back.

Hope this helps!

Thanks!

Not sure how they even come up with used numbers on a vehicle that is 7 months old.

However, the fact that a $60k vehicle can be had for $51-$52k, you are looking at a $7,000 hit, not $17k. On top of that, private party is always the best way to go for me and what I always do.. I never trade in.

Around here dealers offer 20% under trade value. That 44k would be 35k. Less with condition issue or above miles
Trading is not smart around here. Private sale very difficult at those prices because of financing ease at dealership. I just went through it.
