Well this isn't really a return post yet, since I'll still be here tomorrow, but this is for all you web wheelers.
I took 144 pics and 15 videos today
Lets see how long it takes to upload them all using my Cingular EDGE card
I had a blast today. We started off on a green trail and kept together as a large group. Almost a dozen explorers, some jeeps, a few nissans, a bronco, and a toyota. We ended up weeding out the less modified rigs on a hill. RFR2212's hydraulic line (that had just been made the day before) had a crimp fitting fail. He pulled the hose and beat on it to recrimp it, and it seemed to hold the rest of the day. Once that was fixed we all met back up at the quary and played around for a bit out there. We went back to the parking lot for lunch, and afterwards went out and played some more. Over the next few hours we slowly lost rigs due to breakdowns and such. One of the CJs was running badly. Rick busted a CTM U-joint playing in a rock garden, caught on video.
It splayed out the axle ears so he can't get the axle out to replace it with his spare, so he will be 2wd tomorrow. About 4pm, with 2 hours left before the park closes we hit the orange (medium difficulty) trail with almost a dozen vehicles. This is where the fun really started.
This was a very tight trail even for the YJ I was in, so the 4 doors were having a great time I'm sure.
A couple people ripped off mirrors on a tree, and then we got to the mud. It wasn't too bad at first, but not knowing the depth of the holes, we just had to test the waters. We needed a pull back a couple of times, the second time I believe the whole radiator was under water.
Unfortunatly I was too busy working on getting us extracted that I didn't take pics, but I'm sure they will be posted sooner or later. We then came upon a hole that didn't look too bad at first, but became deeper with every vehicle. Guy (glfredrick) did a great job of extracting himself after much struggle, but ended up with what seems to be an electrical problem. It won't idle and did not want to start. With only 40 mins until the park closed we got off the trail as quickly as we could and got everyone out safe.
Its taken about 30 mins just to get up the thumbnails of all my pics. I will continue to upload the 600x pics through the night, but I won't upload the full size pics and the video until I get home.
