Lately when I shift into reverse I get a good kick before if shifts and starts moving. I've notice every once in awhile when I "floor it" it will give me a kick when it is shifting. Not a very mechanical guy any ideas what it could be? It's a 2008 Explorer 110,000 miles Ive maintained it well.

If I had to guess, again not a mechanical guy I would say its a transmission slip? Could it be a bad pistol and as simple as replacing it if there is a reserve pistol??

Perhaps your Pistol is out of ammo! LOL

All kidding aside you seem to be experiencing a transmission issue that could be as simple as a solenoid or as complex as a complete overhaul. Best this to do is have someone who specializes in transmissions look at it and find out for sure!

You got me there wasn't awake when I wrote that lol SMH...

mine did this too, it was the solinoid, there is a video to show you how to replace it yourself. I had mine done @ dealership along with some other issues. But when it was done it shifted better and the reverse did not "bang" into gear.
