you're crazy

Sometimes i do suffer from delusional bouts of adequacy  HA HA

Two things:

1. When you started talking about old horses, hunting, and cooking in the same post you had me wondering for a minute.

:D :D :D ;)

2. What does the hood weigh now?

The BII has been on weight watchers for a long time. I wish you had a total starting weight and a final one when your done. :bounce:

I have to do a little more trimming of the hood, and rounding off the sharp edges. I'll post weight tommorrow.

I wish I had of weighed it before also. Would the weight of an 84 xlt B11 be listed anywhere or at least an estimate? If anything I could get someone around here and weigh theirs compared to mine. Also, I really want to drive up on the scale and weigh the front and then do the back. And then do the same with a stock B11. with a stock v6 and AC like mine had originally. And get the ratio of front to back. Even though mine will have a v8, I still don't think it will be all that heavier on the front axel given the mods that i did.

What about the door sticker? If not I'm guessing that yours is or has been gone for a while... :)

Funny you should mention that, I was about to go out and see if it still has one. I'll report back Thanks

Here's what I found on the door sticker GVWR 4160 lbs.
Front GAWR 2120
Rear GAWR 2390
So I guess it weighed 4160 lbs ? How come the othe two don't add up to the first? Are they front and rear axel weight and the letter A is that for axel?

I do now know the total weight of a BII, but on a truck thats loaded weght. Load on front and rear axle or soemthing.

You are correct sir.

Thanks, its been covered up for so long with gunk, primer and some paint i forgot about it, I carfully got some cleaner and was able to make it out. That's going to be interesting to get the numbers when it's done.

I'm actually very curious now that it has been brought up. so...hurry up and finish everything and post the numbers. :p

It would have been finished by now, but for the last 2 years I've been living on a fixed income. A disability check, not exactly the same money as when I was a union sheet metal worker HA HA. And raising two kids, well you can imagine. But I'm going to be able to cash in some funds next summer and that will let me get everything that I need that I might not be abe to get now. So right at this point I'm doing some things that are not that important because i can't get the really good stuff that I need yet anyway.

Ok...I think I was right. Thats loaded weight on all vehicles.

GROSS VEHICLE WEIGHT RATING...GVWR
Thats the maximun a vehicle can safely weight when loaded (determined by the manufacturer).

This includes:

Weight of passengers carried

Weight of all fuel, water, oil and equipment (tools, etc.)

Weight of all after-market items installed

Weight of any cargo

Weight of other miscellaneous items to be carried

Curb weight is a lot less than GVWR. We need the curb weight before and after.

that's good info. So I need curb weight. Which is probably less then 4000

I would be interested in knowing what my X weighs as well.

I just found out that a stock V8 (y-block) 56 ford f-100 only weighs 3,200 pounds. With the thick sheet metal body they had back then thats hard to imagine.

Curb Weight
The weight of a vehicle with standard equipment, oil, lubricants, coolant and a full tank of fuel. Note: This definition may differ from definitions used by governmental regulatory agencies.

Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR)
This is the maximum allowable weight of the fully loaded vehicle (including passengers and cargo). This number - along with other weight limits, as well as tire, rim size and inflation pressure data - are shown on the vehicle's Safety Compliance Certification Label, located on the left front door lock facing or the door latch post pillar. Note: The GVW must never exceed the GVWR.

That refind it even more. This is interesting. I have a friend that has a B11 something like mine used to be. I'm going to ask him if he can pull it on the scales, he works at a salvage yard. It would least be a ballpark weight. I'm going to post this question on a B11 site and see what I get also. Getting late here. see ya
