rip betty 178,501.75 miles

well yester day as some of you western new yorkers know it was snowin and there was a considerable amount of slush. as u all know know this thread is useless without pictures so to entice you I have pictures of the tree.

the story is I was traveling on a some what snow dusted road with my little brother and just before the end of it is a soft soft curve i was going the speed limit with cruise on and set. just before the curve i tapped the brake pedal to shut off cruise just as I was getting to the curve my passenger tire hit some slush and pulled the whole truck into the path of a tree (see pics above) so seing how both of us were not wearing seat belts so a head on collision was out. I slammed the brakes with inoperative abs and the rear of betty swung out. during all this i was steering in the direction that I wanted to go and was warning by brother to "brace for impact" then boom. everything inside the ex shifted violently. included with the shifting was some crumpling especially where my feet were placed, fortunatly the brake pedal stopped my feet from being crushed. My brother was also fortunate in the sense that he only suffered brom a sprained hand (the hand that he braced with). We both were able to walk out of the ex with a minor cut on my leg and my brother had as I said before a sprained hand. I will have more pics of betty later on today

Glad you two are OK, but I would don my kevlar undershorts for this one. You're about to get lambasted for not wearing your seat belts, as well as not having functional ABS. Let the fireworks begin!! :)

Let's see the truck too (or what's left of it!?)

What's the plan from here?

well the plan is to remove the power train and transfer it into another ex I bought with a failing transmission but the body is in much better shape

Sorry to hear about the Ex. You should have been wearing your seatbelts :)

Man, I'm glad you're alright, but the seatbelts thing, it's just stupid. Also, being a fellow New Yorker, you should know, cruise in the snow is always a bad idea. Sorry about the accident, but I hope you learned something.

and now for the pictures

Wow, that's a damn shame. Glad you're both OK. The truck served you well. RIP Betty!

wow im glad to see you guys are ok that sucks! are you parting it out...well what you can? cause if you are those gas pedals are sweet! i got my eye on em! let me know.

Man i know how that is. When my baby got messed up i almost went crazy.

Sorry for your luck

got some good news the engine runs well must do damage check tomorrow after I grab my spare 94

sorry to hear about the accident, but wearing seatbelts is not smart. Glad yr both ok tho.

I'm surprised that you got off that lightly to be honest. The amount of rust on your truck would have prevented it being used on any UK road as it would fail it's annual check.

Si

Dan...YIKES...no seat belt!! *shame shame* Glad you and the lil bro are ok though. Thanks for sharing your pics. RIP to your EX!

Fordmandan, that sucks. The good thing, of course, is that nobody was injured.

On another note, what road did this happen on? I'm in Cheektowaga myself, and I didn't see anything about it on the local news.
