My 2001 explorer xls check engine light came on and I took it to auto zone and got it checked. they told me that both banks are running lean and to fix this I would have to replace the pcv valve. after I replaced the pcv valve that truck idled better but it is still pretty rough. I was wondering if there is anything anyone can think of that that wouldl help. I also replaced the fuel pump and fuel filter along with the pcv valve.

I'd next be looking for vacuum leaks. Intake manifold gaskets are notorious for leaking...but, they usually show themselves with a rough idle when engine is cold and, when engine warms, the gaskets swell and idle becomes more normal. How about the pcv hoses? Clean the IAC and MAF sensors.

Check fuel pressure.

Update. I replaced the pcv valve and cleaned the ICA an MFA sensors and it is still running like crap. I bought the intake manifold gasket today and plan on putting it on tommorrow. I hope this fixes it. Thnk you for the feed back ill let you know if it fixes it.
