So I finally got around to it. Pump is from a '78 F250, Cardone heavy duty option part number 20-6244, replacing the whiney pump on my '99 4.0 Ranger. I FINALLY HAVE QUIET POWER STEERING!!! Well, it's not TOTALLY, 100% quiet like some have claimed with this swap but I'd say 80% quieter than the old, and steering is easier.
It was 50$ plus 30$ core charge. Advance Auto didn't stock it, I had to wait 2 days. Besides modifying the bracket some (a little grinding) it was a direct fit. The longest part was being **** about bleeding. 45 minutes. I also replaced the pressure and return hoses while I was at it. I used Mercon V trans fluid, the same fluid the old pump used.
HIGHLY recommended mod!!!
