So I was looking into buying a sas explorer, but can't find many around my area. I have all the tools necessary to build one but never have so was kinda sketchy. I was wondering what it cost some of you that have done it already. I'm looking at probably getting dana 44's or 60's, maybe and 9" or 8.8 for the rear. Total cost? Thanks.

Too many variables to nail it down so only you can figure out the cost:
First you need to find the parts. So find out what suspension configuration you're going to run (leaves, radius arm, 3-4 link, hi-steer, etc.. - search if you haven't already), then figure out what parts you need to implement the suspension (plus raw material if fabricating), then add on the axle(s) cost and parts to do the axle(s) and gears, and then add on a few hundred for consumables (electrodes / welding wire, welding gas, grinding wheels, knotted wire wheel, etc..). After you're done with that, add another few hundred for "unknown" variables that will pop up (fasteners, stripped bolts, broken tools, cleaning agents, paint, etc..)
