I am just curious if anyone thinks/knows that using the skyjacker radius arm cross member from the 6" kit would work for the radius arms on a D44 SAS? it looks like it is sitting in the right spot, but not sure if it would really work. another idea that keeps running through my head is to put heim joints on the ends of the arms, and building a new cross member. which im sure everyone will say is a better idea. lol but how will it handle on the road for a DD. hhhmmmm

I don't know where the Skyjacker crossmember is located, so I can't really help you there.

Not sure on how it would handle on the road with heim'd ends. Svande is the only one on here I know of who's done it. The ride quality is always better when you extend the R/A's, so the ride QUALITY would be better, not sure on handling though. I'm planning on heim'd, extended, and possibly wristed R/A's when I do mine and for the time being, it will be a DD.

If it's geting driven on the road i would stay away from heims, they don't give you any isolation like rubber bushings do so the ride will be rough. I think your best bet for ra's would be to modify the ra's that were original to the axle. I don't think it's necessary to extend, wrist, AND put heims on your ra's...it's overkill, the wrist isn't going to help alot once you've extended the ra's (in my opinion...been fought over though as to which is better).

I believe it would work. You might need to weld the bung (thick washer) on to the existing mount. Also you would need to bend your arms in to fit the mounts. If you was to do it this way i would mount the arms then the coils for a good fit.(unless your really good at measurments and angles combined with math and calculating degrees).

I have heard of it being done. I entertained this on my last truck but the skyjack crossmember was bent all to hell and I wanted to mount the arms outside the framerails for a smooth bottom. The stock EB radius arms are about the same length as a set of extended arms for the dana 35. Grab a tape measure and crawl under there. You can always use the skyjacker crossmember in a different spot just by redoing the trans mount that is built into it. Try a search on The ranger station or RRORC boards, one of them is where I read about it.

If you want hiems, I say go for it. They will transmit more noise and vibration than a rubber bushing, but you are driving a highly modified 4x4, not a cadillac. Just ask yourself if you are willing to trade a little noise for the less restricted movement vs a rubber bushing.

how about doing extended arms or even regular length arms, with Degreed Rubber Strut/Radius Arm Bushings for wild horses? like the ones on this page.

Yeah that would work just fine. Check my thread i extended mine and used 79 radius brackets. They are farther from the frame which allows more down travel. But like CodePoet said i would do just one i dont think its worth the time and money to do all of them with such little benefits.

did you do that bend in the arms like they reccomend?

and are those the WH rockcrawler springs? those are the ones i have been looking at, hows body roll with them?

did you have a lift prior to the SAS? i have the SJ 6" now and am just curious how it will compare in height to it. i need another inch or so from what i have now.

On the arms i didnt have to bend them they lined right up with the brackets. But every trucks different you wont really know till you mock it up.
Yes they are WH Coils. The coils are pretty soft. The body roll isnt bad cuz of the wider stance.
I had the superlift 5.5 Lift. Where i placed my buckets gave me around the 7 inch lift range. The WH coils compressed in the vehcile are around 17" long so you can take that measurement and kinda get a good look on where, how and tall your rig will be.

to my knowledge, yes you can use the Skyjacker rad. arm x-member with an SAS. One other board I'm on, that was a big thing for a while. Because it (can) be easier than using stock Bronco mounts, and having to find a way to make a x-member between them. I think that's still what I'm gonna do, soon as I got the cash and find somewhere to get the x-member. But, the x-member and actual rad arm mounts are 2 dif parts IIRC
