ok, so i stumbled across this 76 f-350 axle...it comes with waggy knuckles and the mounting pads are 36.5" from center to center...

i am not sure if this is what will be the best so all you SAS guys chime in as to what you think and what else i would need for parts with this...btw, is this axle wider than the X's setup and what should i do with it????

thanks guys, i'm counting on your help :salute:

uh oh someone is taking the plunge:thumbsup: theres no turning back now :D

uhh 36.5 inches??? might wanna recheck that measurement most sas axles i have seen are like 50-60 inches wms to wms

for an f-350 i'd almost assume that to be a Dana 60 which seems to be the prefered axle around here

yup it gonna be W-I-D-E-R thats why Steve (Stic-o) went with a full width rear too so t would match up front to rear. If i ever get to this point i think i would do the same thing

well i have contributed .02 so now i'll shut up and learn something along with you;)

I think hes talking from center of each spring perch, but that won't mater because you will most likely have to move those perches to get the correct pinion angle.

So your going Leafs? '76 350 should be a D60, but waggy D44 ends? I didn't even know they would fit? Somethings not right here... How many lugs you got there?

It can not be from a F350. F350 wasnt 4wd till 79. So it has to be a F250. Which means its a D44. I think 76 was open knuckle but I could be wrong. Half way though 76 they went from closed knuckle to open knuckle.

sorry, thats all the info i was fed from the seller... i was figuring i would get some input from you guys before i went over and made the final deal with him...the axle and waggy knuckles i will get for about 300 bucks so i am wanting to jump on it...;)

I paid $200 for my axle, but it was from a fellow board member:D

ok, so i did to beat him up to get him to drop his price, lol...:D you are 8 lug all the way around????

I think a stock 60 would be fine under your truck.

i have had ford f250's and 350's for many, many years... i have access to getting the parts and cheap...:D it's just common stuff like hubs and coilovers that will kill me...

you are 8 lug all the way around????

no, 5, I'm running a D44 out of a '78 Bronco;) Everything is stock except for the steering, and brakes on it.;)

Someday I'll go D60 and 10.25 probally, but not any time soon:rolleyes:

rangerx, i am wondering about the width...they are wider than my stock width???...or is there something i can get that is a little shorter??? i am really not all into swapping the rear right away...lmao, i am still working on getting it to the trails this summer before the sas...

thanks stic-o, you answered several questions for me....:D

The rear wasn't to bad. It just depend on if you go 9" or 8.8. My biggest issue became swaping the disc brakes over that everyone said couldn't be done to a FW 8.8. That took some time to figure out

so the dana 44 is about the same width as the dana 60??? i need to figure this out before stico moves up to his 37" tires and gives me his tires and wheels...:D....btw, i seen a set of 40's someone was going to put on their X the other day and they were special ordered... thats all i can say about that, as i took an oath, lol...

isn't that what you already have??? wouldn't you want to goto a dana 60????
