So, I guess my friend was feeling a little left out , went out and got this very clean 99 xlt v8

We're in the process now of R and r'ing all the factory front end components. Yes, even the shocks are original Here's a few pics

Now, considering the factory parts, and how clean it is, this number is pretty remarkable.

VERY NICE! on those upper control arms, did the bolts give you a hard time hitting the shock tower on the way out? mine on the driver side were a p.i.t.a! that looks just like my truck, minus the V8, grey interior and alot less rust...wanna trade? lol

Haven't gotten to the driver side yet, but I already know those are always a PITA. ( been here several times now)

Wow, looks nice, especially for the miles. I have fond memories of the exact front-end job on mine, except for the 2 HOURS I sat on the driver side trying to get those darn bolts in!

Hahaha. And I thought I was the only one that had problems with the rear bolt on the upper control arm, drivers side. Man mine with half the mileage has 3 times the rust. Winter in WV!

I'd have to pull the records, but I seem to recall some pieces charging me $500.00 for an alignment, and they claimed to have replaced the LCAs.

Lower control arms with spicer ball joints and new bushings already pressed in are 100 bux or so at rockauto. For that price it is a no brainer. Get the ac delco brand.

Exactly. I still don't get why people replace the balljoints only, especially since it's much more labor vs swapping arms.

Yep, it is a lot easier when it has been done before. Every bolt was a fight here

bad passenger lower ball joint, driver side hub was grinding. All are original parts. It took a 3 hour fight just getting the ball joint stud out of the knuckle.

Runs great, shifts nice.

I took that advice. WAY easier than messing with the ball joints.

Welp, due to a slow weep, this truck is getting a new radiator today.

After installing I can say I am happy with the "American Eagle" brand of radiator off ebay. It fit just right. 95.00 shipped was a good deal, it arrived Fed Ex in 3 days. not bad.
