Thank you.

About a week ago, I figured out the T-Bird used the same configuration as the 94-95 Mustang. I believe the front accessory brackets are the same as well...

Scott
The ac and ps is identical the other side is ever so slightly different
The throttle body has a little diferent cable attachment
the cable bracket has provisions for both cables

I have an extra TV cable and bracket would trade for your motor mount plates?

Eddie,

I don't need a TV cable and bracket - you are about 3 weeks too late. :(

However, if you are interested in the motor mount plates and/or new Ranger 4.0 motor mounts, we can talk...

AC and fan

Scott
not decided on mounts yet
But have you tried setting the ac comp
and what about the cooling fan Electric push or pull or not there yet
I have a 91 2X I started about 2003-4 then we bought a house in Houston Tx
devoured all my spare time BUT the engine / trans are sitting in the truck now
Looked like your crew only older we went from 6 to 71 I'm 66 was fun

To mount the A/C, I am going to notch the upper-inner corner of the frame. I need to do that to clear the lower mounting bolt heads.

For the fan, I am running a Derale puller. Unfortunately, it is mounted directly to the radiator. Initially, I did that to save some time, thinking I would build a fan shroud later. It is really tight in there, though, so I have to rethink my shroud/mount design.

Progess

have not seen any posts from you in quite a while, any progress?
I have mounted engine, used two right convertible mounts and decided on ac solution, am using explorer

my way

Scot the trip looks great!
Am using two right convertible mounts, ground the studs off of an old set, set the engine, marked the frame drilled worked great, per the ac I went to pick and pull, got the ps and mount and water pump and harmonic ballancer from a 96 explorer then milled .300 of the back of the 95 mustang alt / smog pump mount

looking to see more of your truck

Quick Update

Still waiting on the new motor mounts. They should be to L&L by the end of next week, and to me shortly after that.

Just as well - I am unpacking, cleaning gear, and sorting through 1000 pictures from the trip.

Update

I haven't worked on the truck much over the past month - busy with work and traveling.

This week, I have had time to get back to this project.

I replaced all 4 door hinge pins (first photo) - the driver's door was sagging a little. Now, both doors close with the touch of a finger! Just like new!

I applied sound deadening to the floor (second photo.) It looked like there was something on the floor from the factory - I put this material over the factory stuff. Not sure how much of a difference this will make, but it certainly can't hurt anything.

Oh, the motor mounts will be at my house on Friday!!!!!!! :bounce:

Needless to say, this weekend, the project goes back into high gear.

I install the engine mounts over the weekend.

Unfortunately, they position the engine differently than I have it set.

I talked with L&L this morning (engine mount and header manufacturer) - they are going to build me a driver's side header that is not welded up. This should allow me to adjust tube 5 (forward driver's side) around the engine mount.

Let's hope this works.

Expedition 2013

X2 on the first 2 weeks in April. Scott keep the updates coming and photos also! stay safe, Michael

Change of plan...

I am going to try adapting the engine mounts and using the unmodified header. I think this plan makes more sense.

In the meantime...

While I was figuring out how to design and build the adapter for the engine mounts, I did some work in the interior.

First up, I added additional auxiliary switches to the dash, and built a new wiring harness.

Next, pulled out the instrument cluster to re-wire the tachometer to work correctly with a V8.

The second picture shows the back of the tach. You can see 4 leads: GND, SIG IN, B+, CYL. I tied the CYL signal to GND for V8 operation.

Lastly, I replaced my stereo speakers.

Crutchfield was running a deal on Infinity speakers, so I took advantage of it and saved some money!

The Infinity speakers that were in the truck have been in there for about 15 years. They used to sound good, but time has taken its toll (see photo.)

At the time, the only Infinity separates that would fit in the door was a 5 1/4". Today, they make a 5x7"! These new speakers are way cool. The cone is some sort of fiber - should be long lasting at volume.

Here you can see a photo of the front door speaker. I replaced the rear speakers also, but used 2-way instead of separates. (The woofer is the same in both sets.)

Engine Mounts

I designed the adapter, ordered some steel bar, and machined it this weekend. Unfortunately, there is one more operation I need to do - and I can't do it here.

Tomorrow, I will run the engine builder/machinist's shop, and have him do a quick milling operation, then I can finish up the adapter.

Once it is completed, I will post some pictures.

Scotts old/new truck

Man, your truck is going to be awesome! A new lease on life, can't wait to see it! How did you make out with your other truck? is all back to normal now? I was thinking about that mishap the other day..... what a scare! Well I went to the dark side, I went and got a gently used and clean dark green 2007 J*** L******, with only 60,000 on the clock. New tires, Hankooks of course, roof bars for the kayak, ordered a set of skids and front recovery hooks, GPS, then it will be ready for some mild wheeling. Since the Ranger has a tad over 70,000 on the clock I want to save it for long range expeditions and the J*** will be the new DD. J*** is not too bad a word is it? It's a cool little truck all said...... :D stay safe, Michael
