I just bought an SCT Tuner for my Expo. What I was wondering is what you guys that have that tuner have learned? Does and Dont's, etc...

Don't run under the octane rating for the tune. Other than that you can pretty much go wild. At least if you bought it from James, he always leaves a little room for error in his tunes, so you could max them out and still be ok.

The tuner is generic to Ford..it's the custom tunes that make the difference. Yes..do not run lower octane than the tune is rated..it will cause detonation.

Here is the intake, 2.5 to 3 MPG increase in fuel, have not had it on a dyno so not sure on HP/TQ. I know it woke the Truck up and I hope the tuner is going to take it to the next level. I am cutting the factory exhaust off very soon, getting rid of the cats, resinator, going true duals. Combine all of that with some custom tunes and I am hoping to have a whole new truck...

The MAF is now welded in place, I have not taken any pics of that yet. I have also made a plate to block the filter from the engine bay. Let me know what you think...

Must be nice not to live in a county in Ohio that does the stupid E Check. I'd love to be able to open mine up more by loosing the cats...but i'm gonna have to stop at loosing the resonator itself.

E-check is the biggest scam in the history of the motor vehicle, I will never held down by the man!

Yeah...you ain't kidding there. I can't understand how they say Summit county (Akron area) has more pollution than Columbus or Cinci areas. Look at the size of the cities and the amount of vehicles on the road there.

I have my tuner and love it. As techieman and others said, run what octane you have it set at. Otherwise, just play with shift firmness and get your speedometer set up properly(unless James already did that?). Congrats and the Ex is looking good!!!

Also, you really feel the CAI made a noticable difference? I am planning on doing one soon to see the change it makes at the strip. Plus I could use the extra MPG

I think it helped a lot, it will be better when I finish the exhaust and can tune for it! My oppinion is do it!

just a little rant on my part, here in ak we were supposed to lose the IM testing this last year (as only ONE in FIFTEEN HUNDRED fails), but out great state decided that the 6 million dollars generated yearly was worth our inconvience...agreed...total scam.

I think you should get some JBA short headers man, between the headers + tune, my truck felt more like a low end sports car rather than a 2.2 ton suv.

no JBA does headers for both the 4.0 and the 4.6, i got mine on sale around christmas time for 350 shipped to my door in ak. when it comes time for the swap, hit me up for some work tips (the instructions are very poor and its probably a 3/5 on the difficulty scale.
