that stuff may need to be set in a custom tune. im loooking at getting one to turn off my rear o2 sensor. two differnt speed shops said i would need a custom tune to do that.

Both of those options are listed by SCT as user adjustable with just the handheld, but they add a caveat that not all functions are supported by all PCM's.

So, I'm guessing (yea, guessing) that neither of those functions are managed by your PCM so the X4 cannot change them.

Im having the same exact issue... i feel like sct didnt give me all the options the handheld listed

SCT is dealing with a big lawsuit right now. All tuners have been reprogrammed deleting some of the past options. I know my SF3 has all those options except speed limiter I think (it just may).

I'd be calling James Henson and asking your questions. I would be confronting him for my money back if I had been told it would do those things before I bought it.

I'm certain this has something to do with the EPA also. They really went after Bully Dog (sct). You can google it.

They really had to scramble to reach a compliance agreement with the EPA.

There was a mandatory course to complete to retain extended functions of act tuning. It was an extremely simple course, but it does give you an idea the lengths bully dog is forced to go to.

The SCT4 that I bought 3 years ago, has turned off my nonexistent rear O2 sensors, upped the trans pressure, and raised the speed limiter.

I have a 2000 Mountaineer 5.0 4WD.

Look dude-did you see the date of the original post? 3 years ago. If someone purchased something from me and had an issue I always took care of it. If the end-user options were requested I would enable them, if not I wouldn't. What questions would there be to ask after 3 years? If there is an issue I will take care of this guy-yes 3 years later! Before becoming a keyboard warrior, I politely ask to understand the nature of your statement. So-I will put you in check mate! If this guy PM's me, I will take care of him. Jeez dude! People like you is the reason I shut my shop down!!!!!

LOL. I'm embarrassed for not even looking at original thread post date.
Anyone who has dealt with James knows he has always been straight up and above and beyond for all his past customers.

James was straight up helpful in setting up a tune for my Explorer back at the end of 2013. The same tune which is still running today.
No surprises from James.

If you have an older unit (SCT3or4) and you update it today, would the update take away some of the older user enabled functions, such as rear O2 shut down?

I need to use my SCT3 for rear O2 delete on a 98 5.0L, was going to update it first, but now, Hmm.....?

I don't know for sure, but I'd avoid updating your handheld.
I 'think' if you had custom tunes, and the dealer you purchased them from completed training you 'should' be ok. Pretty vague...I wouldn't update.

I completed the EPA training course thru Bully Dog, and lost no functionality after updating my pro racer package. I have not updated my handheld. I see no reason to at this point. There are growing pains that need to be sorted out as I am hearing of some errors happening even after the training is completed.

Thanks Dono. After seeing this thread, I was afraid of the update and what it might do to my handheld.

I had no idea you got that far into the programming aspects. That's really neat.

I was planning to use Torrie at Unleashed, for a custom tune, but he told me to update the handheld before we started. That was a few months back (spring of 18). Guess I need to talk to him about this update again, to see if it matters for him or not. Won't be ready for all this until this spring tho.

I just used 5 star tuning for a phaser delete tune on a 3v Ford and they refused to delete the rear o2s. It's going to be tuner guy specific on what they are willing to disable now.

I'd also not update your device. I used an unlocked 3015 I had that hadn't been updated and was able to load the new tune on without updating. I still did not have EGR and rear o2s options when I went to tune but I am not sure 04+ f150 gives you the option to begin with.

The SCT updates just allow for selection of newer vehicles.

Mine gets regular updates and still works as it always has.
