Hello all. We have relatively new to us 2021 Explorer Limited, bought used about 6 mo ago, that I recently found does not blow air out the 2nd row passenger overhead vent. The 2nd row driver and two 3rd row vents blow air as expected. Has anyone else has had this issue and was there any difficulty or other complications in getting it fixed? I presume it may take a fair amount of dissasembly of the headliner and rear interior trim to get to everything. Looking at pictures of headliners on Ebay (every one listed is for a model without sunroof, as is ours), it looks like the 3 working vents get fed by a common duct glued on to the headline with the currently inoperative duct being fed by its own supply. I presume the air is fed up through the passenger side "C" pillar from the air distribution box.

It is scheduled with our local dealer next month for this and few other warranty items (peeling windows switches and the AM radio static TSB). I will let you all know how it works out.

Is this with the A/C or heat on? If it is with the A/C, try it with the heating system.

It is the same with either hot or cold air blowing. I can turn the overhead vents on or off (lower vent works fine) using the 2nd row controls on the back of the center console. Everything works as it should, just no air is blowing (when you expect it to) from the 2nd row passenger headliner vent.

Have a look at this thread; Rear Overhead Vents not working on full heat!!!!

Thanks for the link but my issue different. I can get heat, cold or anything in between from 3 of the 4 headliner vents (with the rear floor level vent on or off). Just the passenger second row headliner vent blows no air at all, ever. It seems something is either blocked or not connected properly. I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced or heard of this and how it went getting it fixed.

Looking at a picture of one I found on Ebay, there is a wire running to each of the vents. It might be as simple as the wire is disconnected or loose going to that vent. It might be worth seeing if you can lower the headliner enough to check that.

Arent those for the lights? I don't see any going to the vent itself.
Also, it looks like that specific vent (yellow) is fed separately, so maybe it is obstructed, or not connected?
The other 3 are from the red duct, which also looks like it picks up air close to that one.

You may well be correct about the lights. Dropping the headliner may be the only way to find the issue. Could be the duct is disconnected for that vent.

Oh, thanks for finding that listing. I saved a couple of those pictures, just in case I need to look up there.
