No, not the feline type, but the exhaust type. I have a '97 5.0 which needs a new muffler. After looking around for a bit, I think I've settled on a Mac Cat-back. I'll be adding a Mac CAI at the same time. I'm also debating on removing the secondary cats as well. I'm after better performance on road, no off road capability. A few questions:

1. Is this going to be loud? I do not want any droning.
2. If I remove the secondary cats, is there a company that makes bolt up straight pipes?
3. Is there any performance gain to removing the sec cats?
4. Where can I find the best deals on the cat-back and CAI?

1) a bit louder, shouldn't drone with the right kind of muffler though
2) no, it'll have to be a custom job
3) yes, not huge, but there is some
4) Henson Performance - he's vendor on this site.

I gutted the two rear cats on mine.

It eliminated the drone the I had on the highway!

I have the mac exhaust kit.

Good to hear! So does this mean you had droning before you gutted the cats with the Mac Exhaust?

Are the bolt in

I cut my rear cats out when I did the 4406 swap, and replace them with tailpipe pieces, no other changes.

I noticed absolutely no change in sound or performance.

I wasn't after any change, just more room for an easier t-case swap.

I know this is an old thread, but did this cause a CEL?

Rear cats are after the O2 monitors, so no CEL.
