Someone bought my exhaust pipe and I'm having trouble sending it. It came from the factory via UPS, bare. No box or wrapping at all. It cost me $8.80 to get to me. I bring it to UPS the same way I received it. They're able to weight it; 8 pounds. They measure it, 50" long. So.. only $40 shipping! I go to FedEx, they want $35 with it boxed. USPS, 8 day shipping, Parcel Post, $120! WTF IS THIS? Because of its size they charge shipping for 60-70 pounds. Any ideas on how I can ship this out? It costs $8 to get to me but $40 to get it somewhere else?

Ahh find some newspaper or kraft paper and wrap it up. Go to a place like Mail Boxes, etc. They will just about take anything as long as you wrap it. I did that for my tupperware. UPS at Staples wouldn't accept it yet the MailBoxes ETC/UPS mini-store took it with no problems.

I checked out sending a set of leaf springs at the UPS store and they would send it with no packaging for an additional $7 and no garuntee it would make it.

I'm thinking the company you bought it from get some kind of discount from UPS. I know the company I work for get a great % discount because of the business we give them each and every year. Also, maybe you are shipping them to someone much farther than where you bought it from...

X~FACTOR is right the company that shipped it to you gets a special deal through ups so its a hell of a lot cheaper for them then you, I work at the **** hole so I know - ups - they charge you an extra $7 fee if any item is not boxed and shipped as is or is irregular shape, if you play your cards right you could probably sweet talk them out of the $7 fee, they have an option where they can add or subtract that extra charge and yeah due probably to the size or dimension it gets assigned a weight just due the to length/width/height even though is weighs 8 lbs, you might try dhl there pretty cheap other than that fedex will probably be your best bet
