I have a center mounted kayak rack on my X and honestly I think a fin style Antenna would be more of an issue. You should get a stubby or just flex the stock antenna to the side and out of the way (what I do)

Not that I can recall. Have you tried just unscrewing the 'pigtail' to see if that helps as far as clearance goes?

Yes, that is easy to do. Haven't traveled with it removed yet, so don't know if it affects reception.

It will no doubt affect your AM/FM reception. Here is another possible solution. Rear Antenna
