OK sorry for being new to all this ( my 1st ford explorer) My gear indicator stays on park no matter what gear i shift to. i posted a thread before and was told the cable was probably broken so i looked and found that the cable is NOT broken and that it is hooked up just fine. the white thing with black thumb wheel is not broken either but the indicator stays on park. any ideas?

Thanks

I had a problem with the indicator being stuck from P,R,N, and D, on 3,2, and 1 it worked. The needle indicator was sticking. It slides on a rail that is held on one side by a spring and on the other side by the red wire that is attached to the shift lever. I pulled the top panel on top of the steering wheel off to get to the needle inidcator. Once I was able to get to the needle I put some grease on the rail so it could slide freely and solved the problem.
