Shift Lever adjustments 98 Explorer Auto.

My shift lever needs adjusting. The arrow on the dash does not match the gear the transmission is in. One of my friends mentioned a thumb screw below the panel. Would someone please give me details as to how to access the thumb screw.

Get a flashlight and stick your head under the dash, it's part of the cable that connects the shifter with the indicator needle. It's easier to see if you take the under dash panel off but not necessary.

Will I be able to adjust the thumb screw without taking the under dash panel off? I noticed the parking brake and hood release are all part of the under dash panel, is it a pain to take off?
