All-

Been a while since my last post - been busy with a newborn...and I do mean busy.

Anyway, driving today, and went to back out of a parking spot, and when I shifted into drive nothing happened - and I was still in reverse. Shift lever moves nearly free in each direction with no change to the tranny.

Hopped out, peeked under the hood - saw that the shift cable (for lack of better term) disconnected from the bracket that moves with the gear selector.

Tried to force it back together, but there is so much play it just falls off.

X is now in a parking lot waiting on me to come fix it.

How do I fix this? Is there a minor part I can replace or do I need an entire linkage/shift cable???

I'm lost here...

Mine did the same thing about two years ago. You will need to order the complete Shift Cable Assembly from Ford. Check your Ball for excessive rust. Put a little Lithium Grease on the Ball prior to attaching the new cable.
