I noticed on some X"s that there is a shock from the rear axle to the frame, what is it for and do I take it that it is only on the 4dr's?
Mine is 2dr and doesn't have it.

You are correct, the third rear shock is only on 4 doors. This is to dampen a resonance or vibration peculiar to the 4 door and absent on the 2 door. It is not involved in handling or shock absorption during driving, it is only there for the vibration. The vibration does not occur on every 4 door and many people have removed then along with the rear sway bar in order to get mor rear axle articulation for serious off-roading.

It also aids in preventing axle wrap, but not to many X's will experience that. I have it removed and am not running any sway bars.
