I've had this Explorer for about 6 years or so?
I got it for 900 bucks.
It's been a fun little project. I fixed a lot of things with it.
I gave it add a leaf and shackles. I even put a new headliner in
with a custom suede and I put insulation above the headliner so
it rides quiet. Stays cooler in the summer.
It's a nice damn truck!
It is an XLT with the tow package.
I've pulled all kinds of things with it. I even worked for a bounce
house rental company one summer, and I'd pull a pretty big trailer
with anywhere from 4-6 of those bounce houses and pumps in
the trailer. And it handled it all fine!
My dog loves it in there because I got the back fenced off so that's
his room. When I block out the windows he is all private and
it stays cool. He just plays with his toys and sleeps back there
in the event I have to leave him in there a few hours.
Right now it has a recently rebuilt engine by an amazing mechanic
in the area. It runs great.
The transmission was also rebuilt by another awesome shop,
which is where it is now.
This is the story:
Recently the transfer case blew up.
I looked around all the Pick and Pulls and I found a couple
but they looked thrashed.
So I tried a place
They charged me 830 bucks said the part would be delivered
in 5-7 days. After 12 days I called and the part never left
their "shop" (if one even exists). They said "it wasn't working
right and didn't want to send me a bad part." The guy said
"but I can promise you I'll send one out today." I said, "how
are you going to find one in one day?" And this Indian
gentleman who was always so nice suddenly BLEW UP
and started accosting me. I said just give me my refund.
So he said he would and I got an email to the effect.
But it all seems scamm-y now to me.
A part of the gullible me wants to believe the refund will post
in a day or so. Keep this company on your radar, avoid!
Their website:
www.premiumusedautoparts.com
Lists their address as:
xxxx elk grove ca etc
I looked it up and it's a big office suite. I called some of the tenants
there, NONE of them have heard of "Premium Used Auto Parts."
Well now my Explorer is just sitting at the transmission shop. It's been
there over a month and I feel real bad about it.
I guess I gotta get it towed back to my house. At this point though,
I wouldn't mind if it somehow got hit by a nuclear bomb and I never
saw it again.
This is my question. Should I give up? Would anyone buy an Explorer
without a transfer case? I want to make up some of the money I've
lost on this thing.
I'm so freaking pissed off right now I don't even know how to feel.
