Smoke from steering column

Hi all , about three weeks ago I was on the highway on cruise control and pull into BK when I saw a puff of smoke coming from between the steering column and the wheel , on the same day going home I turn on the Cruise control and I smell like something burning , so I turn off the cruise control and haven't use it since and no smell , anyone knows what it could be ? Thanks in advance

"This is fairly common, it is basically the contact switch in your turn signal. They use contact grease that over time dries out and causes the contact to not make a proper connection. The easiest solution is to get a replacement turn signal assembly and swap the whole thing in."

I didn't have this problem but I had non working turn signals. Pulled the MFS apart, cleaned it all up and all is fine now. Didn't spend a dime.
