Snowball 94 Limited

That could be, I'd ask an AC shop to be sure though. My Lincoln needs the lines, drier, compressor changed, due to debris(blockage). The expansion(orifice tube) valve in that car is in the high pressure(liquid) line, thus not serviceable like most. I have to replace the one line just to get that expansion valve, and the other lines because they are all part of the drier.

AC work is not always simple.

Call Vol Radiator and ask them if they know where the expansion valve is in the 91-94 Explorer. It may be there as you suggest, then it's not bad to replace. Is that the part that they couldn't remove?

Started a thread on it. Link

I think I've got it figured out what I need to do.

Well some small updates on the truck...

I washed her a couple days ago and found several trail badges on the front fender. They're pretty small won't notice them unless you're close. I also hosed the under carriage off again and tons of mud and gravel came out the inner fenders were pretty caked. She needs to be clay-bared bad but I just haven't done it.

Also yesterday my girlfriend decided to open the door while I was drivin cause it wasn't closed completely and when she yanked it shut...Bet no one knows what happened?

That's right the crappy pull handle broke like they all do. So I've added that to the list of things to fix. She made up for it though she went to Wal-Mart and found the last set of lights they had on sell that matched my roof ones. The plan for these it to mount them on the roof for reverse lights...

But I have an Idea... I plan to drill a few holes in the top/bottom of them and install Red LEDs tied into the turn signals.

I have the replacement door handles if you'd like to buy a pair. The Limited uses a color matching the door panel, all others are black. These are new and don't look too hard to install.

You've just got parts for everything it seems or a source close to get them it seems. How much would you want for them and are they the tan one's?

Today I was lookin through my box of parts...

And I've come to the realization that I have a ton of plans and half the parts for them but no time to do them or no cash for the other parts needed.

The box has...
  • Reverse Lights
  • Parts for headlight Relay Harness
  • Hose to extend breather lines
  • Tranny hose to plumb a secound tranny cooler.
  • A/C Parts
  • Coolant Temp sensor

I have some spare parts from my old 93 Limited. My interior was gray, so I've got the gray door panels, and handles. Check on eBay for the door handles, the new parts were there when I got these.

Ebay has them but they're $20 a side. Bit to much in my opinion. I'll just look for one next time I'm out at Pull-A-Part.

The non-Limited models are black, so you may need to get a pair. They aren't screwed on, but "melted" on I'd describe it. The new parts come with mounting hardware to install the new part after you get the old part out. It may or may not be worth changing colors, or going with a used part. That's why I bit the bullet and bought two new ones.

Been doin a little work on the reverse lights.

I've got the bar cut, drilled and painted. Also ran the power wire from the battery through the interior to the back jack compartment for now. I finally received my Red LEDs for the turn signal mod and drilled the holes for them in the lights.

That's as far as I got today I decided to stop to take my girl out to dinner since I've spent so much time workin on the Explorer. Hopin to have everything wired up tomorrow and installed on the truck. Gonna take plenty of pictures.

Also I just won 50 55,000mcd white Leds on Ebay for 5$ so next mod will be LED dome lights once they arrive from China. Or I might do the Headlight relay harness first since I already have most of the parts.

Seems like it's been forever since I updated this...I spent a week in TX with my GFs family came home and worked open to close 4 days straight then went to the beach for a church mission trip and just finished another 4 days of open to close. Needless to say spare time has been limited and sleep has practically been nonexistent.

A lot of work has been done...Bu no pictures take of final results.

I finished up the my custom Reverse/Turn Signal roof lights.

Here's one mounted up. I first tried gluing the LEDs with hot glue and it failed miserably I tried a few other things but the only thing I found that worked we JB Kwick. I'll try my best to get finished pics tomorrow.

I also finally got a center cap to replace the one that somehow had the Limited part fall out. Big thanks to Blue04xlt for sending me it.

I had today I off so used the time to convert most of my dome lights to LEDs. I got the cargo and map lights done easily. I'm kinda stuck on how to do the middle light as there isn't room for the LEDs as I only have the single light not the 3 light thing, I might get one when I go to the JY to convert it to.

Hopefully tomorrow I'll have time to take some pics for ya'll.

OkI finally got some pics of the new mod...

Here's where I chose to put the switch. It's wired so up is on with reverse center is off and down turns them on in any gear.

and here's my favorite part the turn signals.

They're pretty dim during the day but it's because of the way they are positioned in the housing. at night they shine though.

I also finally made my relay harness for the headlights a couple days ago. Haven't drove at night to see if it's any better. I also wired it so that the Low beams stay on with the high beams.

My relay panel is gettin a bit full.

Today I went out to Pull-A-Part with a list of things I needed for future projects.

Here's what I came back with..
utf-8BSU1HLTIwMTEwODE2LTAwMDE1LmpwZw.jpg

I ended up with...
2 auto down modules
door pull for passengers door
handle for the hatch and a non-broken panel
pads for the brake and E-brake pedals
a stock tranny cooler so I can run 2
and a pusher fan for a Geo Prizm
plus some little parts all for 60$.

Now a couple questions. How many quarts does a stock tranny cooler hold and how should I go about filling it? (I'm assuming just add to the tranny and let it run the air out)
Also how should I wire up the pusher fan? (I'm thinkin just wire it up to a switch and turn it on when at slow speeds or wire it so it comes on when the car starts and let it run all the time)

Fill trans like normal to add fluid to the cooler

A good way for the trans fan is to have a trans temp gauge and have the fan kick on at around 200*. I believe the normal range you want you trans temp to be is 185-200*

Someone feel free to chime in if I'm wrong.... because I don't know everything

Well I did a little research and it seams the consensus is that the normal operating temp is between 150-170* for the tranny. So I'm thinkin I need the fan to kick on around 175-180*.

I think before I add the fan I'm gonna do the second tranny cooler and a external filter and a temp gauge. I'll mount up the fan when I do the cooler though so I don't have to tare the front apart twice.
That's my plan for now. Anyone with advice on the fan chime in though.

I guess I was thinking of other auto transmissions..... i try to run a 5 speed if I can.

Ya I'd prefer a 5 speed too but i took what I could get.

I got the second tranny cooler installed today and I got my tranny filter mount i ordered yesterday(Summit shipping rocks). So I'm headed out to install that in a bit. Pics of the install coming soon.

swap it out :biggthump

it would be the 1 of none or 1 of very few limited 5 speeds

I wish... I don't currently have the money or the knowledge to do it.. Maybe one day down the line I'll be able to.

I hear ya on the money part... I'm still trying to gather funds to replace my clutch and slave cylinder.

as far as knowledge, there is probably 3-4 write ups on 5 speed swaps on here.
