So i was about a week away from contacting brandon about getting spacers and whatever else i could get my hands on and my tranny blew. Thats whatever but i would like some advice as to how big of spacers i should get. I cant remember where i saw it but i read somewhere that the 3's were too big? I want to go as big as possible but i dont want my front end coming apart going down the road.

On a side note i was thinking about trying to find springs for another vehicle that would fit in my explorer, I dont know if this would work but if it will im gonna try and get 6 inches worth of suspenion lift.

3" spacers are way too big. Stay with 2.25" or less in the front and 1.75" or less in the rear.

If you want it taller still after that go with the 3" body lift.

There are taller coil springs available but as I understand it they tend to settle a lot over time.

6" of suspension lift would be awesome but one of the biggest things getting in the way of it is the way the rear CVs go through that hole in the frame. Even if that wasn't a problem if you tried doing 6" of spacer lift you would max out your CV joints way before you got to 6".

If you are really serious about getting 6" of suspension lift, you might look into a solid axle swap.

Yeah I was looking at everything earlier and the amount of work id have to do to get 6 inches and still have irs is insane so im thinking im gonna solid axle it. And ronin no **** but your explorer has been my background on a couple occasions lol, What lift do u have?

And i was saying 6 inch springs for like a jeep or something..not spacers. But i didnt realize the CV's go through the frame thats dumb

Thanks!

If you did the solid axle swap you'd be the first on this forum to successfully do it on a 3rd gen. You'd probably want to look for a solid 8.8 rear from a sport trac and maybe a jeep dana 30 solid front. Definitely leaf springs in the rear, on the front you might be able to do coils. Swapping in a TTB front with coils from a 1st Gen might also be an option.

On my truck I run 1.75" front and 1.5" rear BTF spacers and a 3" body lift with 265/75/16 tires. I also have the longer BTF upper control arms with uniballs. From the ground to the top of the fender wells it sits at about 39.5". Under the center of the front crossmember I have about 12.75" of clearance.

Being first would be pretty cool, ill have to take alot of pics. Im thinking whenever I get her back from the transmission shop im gonna start taking measurements and see'ing how ill mount the springs in there. Its gonna take me awhile to do all of this but im thinking within a year ill have it all done. I finish school in december so ill be free'd up to do as i please. Ive built 4 link suspenions and done a few solid axle swaps so I dont think ill have to much trouble. Just the cost of everything is whats gonna get me

I am in development of a 4",6" and possibly an 8" Gen3 all suspension lift. I have a 4" kit made and will be installing it on my Explorer with a 34.5" tire. However, with this one I am going to use 3" and 2.25" strut spacers with custom upper control arms in the front and rear with the 4" lift to get the 7" of all suspension lift. I wanted to have room to play from 4" up with this one. I looking at about 11" of lift with tires. With NO body lift
I will be posting pictures of the install soon.
