Hi all, i need to find the location of the solenoid switch on my late 1999 explorer 4.0 SOHC XLT the one in the engine compartment not the one on the starter

i would like to know the location also on my 1999 sport explorer , any pics ? i cant find the dam thing!!!! driving me nuts!!!

I believe, if I'm not mistaken, that after 1996 that a second solenoid is not used for a Ford starting system, as the two-solenoid starting system was OBD-I, and not OBD-II. The starter relay that you are looking for would be located underhood, in the Power Distribution Center box (where the underhood fuses are). It should be listed on the box cover which relay is the starter relay.

I'll confirm what zeke said. 2nd gen solenoid is on the starter and they also have a relay in the main fuse block.
