Some body work done yesterday.

This Explorer when I bought it had the rot in front of the rear wheels like most others. It was covered up with some aluminum sheeting and riveted in. I couldn't stand seeing the big rust spot there so I took it all out. Eventually this whole side with get a boat sided effect done to it but for now this will work.

The rear bumper needed to some trimming too.

in the future, if quality is your goal, I would not use rivets. Welding is a far better option.
Rivets could make air pockets that could result in the body filler cracking. Or the rivet area could rust and continue the corrosion process you just attempted to eliminate. Or the rivets could not hold securely enough and allow the patch metal to move and create cracks in the body filler.

Yeah I am not sure why they used that fix other then maybe it was cheap and easy. It also just helped more water and muck get into that area because it was not a real sealer.

The fix will be up-coming once I get some metal on my hands.
