Hello! Today marks one week that I've had my new Explorer, and yesterday I made my first fuel stop to fill the tank. I purchased this one off the lot, as it had most of what I would've ordered anyway. Though this is my 4th Explorer, my most recent vehicle was a Volvo XC90 (drove for 6 years).
  • It's taking a little getting used to the bigness of this car
  • The seat adjustment is amazing though. I'm 5'1", and raised the seat just about all the way up.
  • I'm missing those daytime running lights.
  • For some reason, I often accidently turn on the hazard lights, while using the touch screen

  • Telling me my horoscope? So funny.

  • Liking the power lift gate. If I'd ordered my car, I wasn't going to get this though.

  • Getting used to the two-tone interior (tan/gray) though I wish it was all tan.

  • My iPod does not work with the USB. :( I have an older 30g Classic Video. I'm really dissappointed about this. Guess I'll have to get a new iPod.

  • My older LG phone synced beautifully on the first try. AND updates contacts as well.

  • The turning capability is great

  • Wish you could open the shade on the rear sunroof w/o opening the shade on the front sunroof

  • Don't have power 3rd row seats, but they move around very easily.

OK, so here are my questions:

To the left of the hazard light button, there is a smaller white triangular shaped button - what is this for?
The 12V outlets seem to be functional even when the car is off? Will this kill my battery if I leave something plugged in?

Thanks,
Lucille

I've left my Garmin plugged into my 2007 Explorer for years, with out issue. Turned on and turned off (still draws current when off). Also my Blackberry charger stays plugged in, and it has a small light on it. Again, no issues here.

I do the same thing with my hazzard lights.

I also have the 30g classic ipod, but I don't have a problem using it. Make sure it has the latest updates (both the ipod and your sync). The sync will need to be checked by Ford.

scott posted in another thread that the newer-built Explorers have the hazard "button" recessed now since it was so easy to accidentally turn it on while using MFT. This is how mine is (took delivery last Tuesday, 25000 VIN number).

The XLT has fog lamps standard as well as auto-on headlights. DRLs are just lower-voltage low-beam lights, didn't think anyone actually cared about this. It's a very small "benefit" to raise visibility for other drivers.

The turning IS great. Much better than I expected.

I have this exact same issue (have had my new explorer since Sunday). I'm glad to know it's not just me, and mine has the recessed button, but I still seem to rest my knuckle there and turn them on.

I guess it's time to update my iPod - I never could be bothered to in the past!

I believe you're talking about the eject button for the cd drive?

Ah, ok! I haven't used that yet.

Mine is recessed as well.

I updated my iPod this a.m., and now it works in my car. Thanks!

Ah ha! It took me almost 30 minutes to find that eject button for the CD player. I was looking on the screen, never realized it was an actual button..

I am also having problems keeping my fingers off the hazard button. It should NOT be there! That is going to be a huge problem for me.

Hello, first poster here.

Issues with my new explorer XLT

> Just received recall for the 2nd row seat recall # 11c15.

> Also have the rattling noise emanating from the right front A pillar, this has been noted on other forums on early build vehicles. Mine was built 11/23/10. The Black metal moulding on the outside is loose at the bottom and has at least a 1/4 gap. This only appears when going 70+ Mph. Design problem?

Also when the sun is low in the sky and shining directly thru the windshield it appears to have pit marks thruout the window. Sort of like it was sandblasted. It is not that visible when sun not shining thru it. Any others have this problem? Is it a defect in the glass or damaged in the shipping?

We have had 3 new Expeditions in the past 7 years and none had recalls. Hope that being an early build vehicle will not be my downfall.
Don't get me wrong we love this vehicle. Just hoping for a trouble free vehicle.

Other things to consider, The hazard light button in the wrong place, vanity mirrors only have one light on them. ( Expedition had two) and why no assist handle on the drivers side? Everything else is first class.

Thank you everyone. "Happy Exploring"

Past vehicles, all purchased new. 78,79,82,85,89,92 95.98,02, all Club wagons Then 04,07,08 Expeditions. So I guess you could call me a Ford Man!
