IZwack Read this >>>>> Gnar Gnar - An exclamation used to describe something which is awe-inspiring, usually of something generally deemed to be "twisted"

As in Gnarly?? Must be a west USA coast thing. I don't know what you guys are talkin bout!
:salute:

LOL you will in 5-10 years
It always starts in So cal and moves its way out West...
funny hair cuts, surfer talk, emo all the stupid trends pick up followers quick
I wouldnt be surprised if you could buy a metal melisha t shirt at wal mart in 5 years from now LOL

The floor is OOt, OOt, opples and bononos.

So, now what?
What do you mean now what? Kidding, well hopefully this weekend I'll get a manual 1350 t-case from BLEE for the doubler. I'm trying to hold off on building the cage too much because as it is, I'm enjoying the ability to walk inside my Explorer -- think of it as a small walk-in closet (with an engine in the middle).

Just leave the floor out of it and put in just enough support for the seats and to keep the body from folding up like a taco. Then you can just duck under the body and strap yourself in.

I guess that would make taking a wee wee easier too ;)

So does that mean that once your finished your going to live in it?
Well, guess you better make room for a mini fridge for the essentials, BEER and MEAT!

I can hear it on the radio now--" break, um Iz, I think your leaking green tea"

lol

Right in the privacy of your own Explorer. I like the idea of making an wheelin' apartment out of it too, put in a stove, bathroom, sink and fridge. No need to ever leave the truck.:p:

Thats what vans are for!!

-------------

Today I picked up the BW-1350 (from BLEE) and tore it down for the doubler.

The case half that needs to be cut:

Planetary set:

Its not required to take the planetary out but I wanted to replace the input seal (cauz hot tanking would have destroyed it anyway so I removed it) and I wanted to keep the planetary set and bearings clean during the cutting process.

Wow you work fast.. You just grabbed it around 1 today..

Thanks but all I did was disassembled it ;)

you going to make a plate that both cases bolt right onto or is it going to be spaced apart?

The adapter plate I need to make spaces the two apart a few inches (like 2.5 or so inches).

Got the casing back from the hot del tank.

Casing cut in half -- only took about 5-7 mins with a reciprocating saw and w/o much pressure on the saw other than to keep it steady:

Mockup with one adapter plate dimension (3.25"):

Casing with all internals required (except for the pickup/filter for the oil):

Overall, the doubler will add about 8.75" do the drivetrain.

A section of tube has been ordered and sent to my brother. he will turn it on a lathe so that the faces are exactly perpendicular with the tube's center axis -- this will be what goes in between the two cases (with some plating and whatever else).

Very nice, so are essentially building your own doubler or are there parts from a machine shop in there?

I'm very interested in the doubler and these pics are great.

So where is the back half of the front case coming into the picture? Is it cut the same way as the front half?

I've tried to keep up but we're on page 19, redirect me if I'm asking the same question that has already been asked.

And WOW, you think I can hot tank my entire truck? That looks great.

Yup yup, building a doubler. There is a part from the machine shop and that is the main shaft. It has been cut and re-splined. But I scored the shorter shaft from another forum member. He was going to build his own doubler but instead bought an already assembled unit.

Shortened/resplined shaft and an original shaft:

The back half of the front case is thrown away -- you dont need it because the front half is going to bolt up to the adapter plate (with some RTV to seal it up).

And WOW, you think I can hot tank my entire truck?
You can, but your dog (which is too wrinkled and needs ironing) wont approve of it :)
