Sony HU acting weird....

My Sony in dash is acting up everyonce in awhile, it will power off and restart in the middle of use. When it does, sometimes it "forgets" that there is a cd player mode, it will not even bring it up while scrolling through the functions. I then have to reset the whole unit to make it act right, but sometimes it just restarts and thats it.
I have a Ipod interface module hooked up to it, and I have it all hooked up to a 5 channel amp. My first thought was that I had a short, even though I bulletproofed my wiring for that reason, but I went ahead and pulled it and checked, nada. I am starting to think its the interface module, I have noticed that high humidity screws with the ipod, maybe its doing the same with the module?
Anyone have any ideas or similar problems? Thanks!

Does it happen after long use? Maybe heating up too much?

No, not really, but it is hot as hell around here till recently, and it hasnt done it in awhile. I considered heat, but am not sure because I dont leave it on very long while driving around town, maybe 10-15 minute stretches.
